Begin with dry-solids production, not only liquid volume

A dewatering machine is positioned on the sludge line, so its working duty is defined by how much dry matter arrives and how that material behaves. Ask for average and peak dry-solids production, feed concentration, variability across shifts, upstream thickening steps and expected operating hours. Two sites may report the same wastewater flow but generate very different sludge loads. That difference changes the required machine capacity, polymer demand and downstream cake handling. A clear data sheet is a better starting point than a generic request for the largest available model.

Map the complete conditioning and cake route

The press should not be specified as an isolated component. The project needs a usable route from sludge collection or flotation sludge to polymer preparation, feed, flocculation, filtrate return, cake discharge and contained onward transfer. Review where polymer solution is prepared, what equipment permits the feed, where wash water drains and how cake is received by a hopper or conveyor. These interfaces determine whether the selected machine will have a stable operating context and whether operators can maintain it safely.

Use final selection criteria that can be verified

A responsible comparison records the required duty, model reference, dimensions, electrical scope, wash-water expectation, materials, operating controls and the specific method used to validate performance. Avoid treating a catalogue hydraulic range or a generic cake-dryness statement as an automatic guarantee. Instead, state the feed sludge basis, hours, polymer programme and agreed measurement method. This makes the purchase scope more transparent and supports a more useful commercial comparison.

Use the RFQ to turn questions into a project basis

When the key inputs are available, a structured RFQ can bring them together with project country, target result, operating hours and the equipment interest. That helps move the next conversation from general browsing to a defined technical scope. If a data point is not yet available, identify it as an open clarification rather than assuming a generic value.
