This guide is for early technical scoping. It helps a project team identify relevant inputs; final selection, materials and performance conditions must be confirmed in the agreed technical proposal.
Define the objective before comparing flotation equipment
DAF systems are often considered for suspended solids, floatable solids, oils, colour-related material or chemically formed flocs. However, pretreatment for a biological process, preparation for membranes and a discharge-target application can each require different assumptions. Define what must be reduced, the influent variability, the target measurement basis and what process follows the DAF. This keeps the proposal focused on the actual separation problem rather than a general claim of removal performance.
Collect the wastewater and chemical-conditioning evidence
A useful review includes average and peak flow, pH, temperature, suspended solids, CODcr, oil and grease, colour, production schedule, existing chemical programme and any sample or jar-test observations. Chemical conditioning determines the quality of floc available for bubble attachment. The project team should describe the wastewater changes it expects during cleaning, batch production or product changeovers. That information helps identify whether equalization, dosing and flotation controls need particular attention.
Make the separated-solids route part of the DAF scope
A DAF does not end at clarified water. The float sludge and any settled material need collection, transfer and a credible route to dewatering or storage. Equipment packages should show how screening, chemical preparation, flotation, sludge collection and dewatering connect. Review the transfer elevations, equipment permissives and space for maintenance. A defined solids route prevents a water-line decision from creating an unmanaged sludge-handling issue downstream.
Use the RFQ to turn questions into a project basis
When the key inputs are available, a structured RFQ can bring them together with project country, target result, operating hours and the equipment interest. That helps move the next conversation from general browsing to a defined technical scope. If a data point is not yet available, identify it as an open clarification rather than assuming a generic value.
